According to the CDC, cases of gestational diabetes have increased 30% over the past few years. Much of this is due to the COVID-19 pandemic, which has forced us to live more sedentary lifestyles and, therefore, caused poorer health. Pregnancy makes it more difficult for the body to regulate blood sugar, and, when you are not taking care of your body, gestational diabetes can occur. Staying healthy is not a foolproof way to prevent gestational diabetes, so talk to your doctor about any risks you may have.
